In my opinion there should be a limit to how many street circuits are run every year because they are car crushers one little mistake and there goes $100,000 in damage that is the useaul scenario instead of MR Cocho looking for mor ecar crushing circuits such as townsville and homebush why not look into giving eastern creek a second chance if they can commit to putting into lots of money into the track why not give them a second chance even if it is only 1 mil a year at least the circuit will be slowly upgraded Any other bodys opionion will be appreciated=) |

Mattforcer39 this has been the discussion under many topics. To re-iterate my view I think a venue at Homebush would be awesome however does the cost outway the thrill. Sometime ago the estimate for staging this event was said to be 30 million. The Govt want to lock the event for 5 years. To me the N.S.W Govt is in enough financial stress at the moment with the public service sector going on strike, hospitals and schools together public transport @ roads needing much attention. We are a state with the highest cost of living and couple this with home costs and rent the people of this state are suffering. Therefore I do not know where the funding is to come from and will it be recouped. I have stated all along what we need are self sufficient circuits untilised 365 days a year by all categories albeit for Corporate Days,Fun Days or testing etc . And this must include Go-Karts and Light Car Club use.. At the moment in Sydney we have Oran Park and Eastern Creek and believe me they are functional and utilised for various factors including Advanced Driving Courses and Drags/Drifting when relating to Eastern Creek. Now we have a situation where Oran Park is leaving us so what have we got left. Pretty obvious aye Eastern Creek. The ARDC who control this venue have just spent $350K on a feasabilty study to enhance this complex as they recognise the problems. I have seen the designs that have revolved from this study and they are quite stunning and cater for all categories excluding F1. YES Eastern Creek should be given a little bit more courteousy by V8 Admin as should the Govt but it is looked down upon as it is controlled by the ARDC Whom Mr Cochrane blames the loss of Amaroo,Oran Park and we may as well add Warwick Farm. The problem is these tracks were privatelly owned and sold for property development which was out of the hands of ARDC. If Eastern Creek does not receive the attention it deserves it may also suffer the same pitfall considering the factory development surrounding the complex. Of the 14 present rounds conducted by V8"s only 4 are supported by V8 Supercar Australia. The remainder are self sufficient and the circuits controlled by your local light car club or other bodies within the Motorsport Group. The participation of V8:s on these tracks is by invitation only. When I speak Sydney and N.S.W I include all states. Every State should have circuits set to a standard. The Fox family whom own Phillip Island have good ideas for this circuit and will not be dictated to by Mr Cochrane and he is not in a position to upset this family otherwise they will tell him to go elsewhere such as Sandown which is controlled to the Horse Racing Fraternity. As for Townsville Ingall and Johnson joined the party to design this circuit or at least give their views. What we have is a track 2.8KLM in length without dulation and 50/50 street/circuit. Johnson stated the circuit area(Reid Park) had heaps of room. In my view this circuit is outdated before construction. If the funding was not available to build a decent circuit then let it drop until funding comes on board. It is not fair to the supporters of Nth Qld to experience half the thrill in lieu of giving them the full show. Pitiful. Yes the administrators of this sport have to look at what they are exhibiting and at the moment leaves a lot to be desired. I could go on and probably will in due course but this is my view of the situation. |

michaelvt 7 days ago | I believe (and ive said it before) that V8 Supercars needs a permanent world class venue that is in the same books as tracks like Monza, Bahrain, Spa etc. |
